01 1960s chalet transformation
Sixt-Fer-a-Cheval
120m²
My clients wanted their outdated and poorly designed chalet in Sixt-Fer-A-Cheval to be completely transformed. Initially to be used for this young family's holidays, the long term plan is that it becomes a permanent family home so the design brief had to take into account a young and also a growing family's needs.
As is the case with many of our clients, this family were based overseas and so excellent communication was vital. Other than the need for three bedrooms, the brief was very open - the client trusted and believed we would interpret their alpine dream correctly.
All three levels of the building changed so everything was ripped out leaving a shell as a starting point. Structural improvements included changing floor levels, fitting new picture windows, creation of enlarged balconies, mezzanine and double floor height spaces to deliver a stunning family home with open-plan living and extreme comfort.
We handled the design, planning application, selection of all materials and fittings, and on-site project management for this client as well as designing and arranging for exterior landscaping.
